My buddy, my best friend…
A bestfriend is someone who can stand for you no matter what….I got mine, and he came with a price. Yes, with a price! Three thousand bucks plus all the upgrades…hmmm…make that 4K. Relatively speaking that’s not too pricey. I’ve seen the likes at 30K or even the price of a sedan. Yes, a car! Brand new. And I got mine at 3K. See…you can have a best friend without spending too much.

Our relationship started since September 2006. Been into rough journeys since then. We’re into several ups and downs…Uphill and down. But we still managed to stick together throughout the years.
Summer of 2007, he got rid of his balding tyres and got upgraded into errr…what’s the make of the tyre again? Oh, it’s Maxxis. It’s got really nice and deep threads plus it’s a lot bigger than its predecessor. I got it from the bike shop along the curve of JP Rizal across the church (Catholic) of Tejeros. The owner was Chinese - seems to be a family business. So I guess it’s Made in China (yes, M should be higher caps). Though I’ve seen one modest but outdated Maxxis poster - so would that make the commodity not a counterfeit?
Anyway, I got it with free installation service so it’s a good bargain somehow. It hasn’t knocked me off the roads since I’ve been using it. So I’d say so far so good.
Oh, back to my best friend…That Made in China issue has bugged me a bit. The sad thing is…I almost decided to give him away. Gratis at that. To some friends who, I think can use it in more noble end (noble, yes, you read it right, noble as in it can save lives!). That was last year. i changed my mind and kept it for myself.
He’s got some ferrous oxides in some of his parts so I gave him some WD40 treat. I haven’t driven him for few weeks now since work has been eating too much of my time. But when I decide to grab him outdoors again…I know my best friend and I will be out there in the high streets, with no definite destination, just to be together and see where and how far the wheels can bring us to….
