Will You Survive?

“You Complete Me….”

When was the last time have you used that famous Jerry Maguire line “you complete me” to someone? You’ve done that perhaps once, twice…or countless of times already. Reason can vary from person to person.

Now, when was the last time you ever used that line to something? Yes, something – a thing. I just did…today…to no other than my spectacles. It was pricey but I badly needed to have one. The lens comes in complete with the much-needed features – UV and glare protections plus a not-so-needed photochromic property (i.e., it changes to a dark color when subjected to extreme light from the sun’s rays…often called “transition” lens).

And since the price was no joke…(like as much as a week of my salary) I needed to scour through malls of the metropolis for the best price, like I never did before. I got the best bargain from Executive Optical (EO) SM Megamall branch. Yes, right there on the 2nd floor, Bldg B in one of the country’s longest and most crowded public structure ever built.

The frame was on sale (30%) and the multicoated+transition features was the most affordable in the metropolis. The total cost, however, still did overshoot two-folds from my budget. But on something I really really need, I seldom settle for less. The remarkably good customer service from both the staff and the ophthalmologist (is that how they call them?) plus a very promising aftersales support makes every penny worth it.

And finally…I am complete again…for several reasons:
- I can stare at my CRT office monitor without straining my eyes
- My astigmatism now has temporary cure
- I need not wait for the jeepney to be as near as 2 meters before deciding if it’s the right ride
- I need not be in the front row seat of all meetings, and still end up not being able to read those font 16 presentations
- I need not count all the floors of hi-rise constructions to be able to figure out what floor has the construction reached
- Now, I would know who’s making faces when I’m talking in front of a crowd (I see you… hehehe)
- Now I can say if I am looking at a star or a planet
- Now I don’t have to smile at every person I pass along the hallway of the office
- Now I have more reason to be at the window seat of all my flights (there’s not much anyway)
- I can tell from afar which carrier has just taken off from NAIA – PR, 5J or something else
- I can have a good look of all landscape sceneries that I am about to frame using my S2 IS

And alas!!!…I would be able to see the world again in a clearer perspective. Thanks to my spectacles…because I am once again…complete….(Oh, by the way…this is not a Centrum ad!)
