NO-GUILT TRIP • POSTCARDS FROM MONTEVIDEO

I spent last week in Montevideo, extending my increasingly abused tourist visa and eating cake. I’d love to have a big long list of all the must-do attractions in Uruguay’s capital, but to be honest, I wasn’t quite up to trekking around touristing. Partly because I’d spent the previous week hosting one of my best friends from the UK, and playing the hostess was more tiring than I’d imagined, and partly because it was hot af. I’m not at my best when I’m sweating in places it’s uncomfortable to sweat from. Who is? In the end, I decided to have a chilled week and just enjoy being somewhere else. This month’s travel blog link-up was on guilty pleasures when travelling– I’d say mine would be not ‘making the most’ of being somewhere new and becoming more familiar with my destination’s cafés than its landmarks, but then again, why feel guilty for doing something I like and taking time to recharge? So I’m calling this my no-guilt trip. I DID however make a point to get up with the sun one day and go out to take photos before the beauty spots got too filled up with traffic, because not even the lure of avocado toast and my book could keep me from my camera and the gorgeous early morning light, and I had great fun!
